Incident represents the third such incursion in just under a year; Hamas claims it performed ‘special tasks’
The Ezzedeen Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Gaza Strip’s de facto ruling Hamas party, took responsibility for launching a micro drone on Thursday, that crash landed in Israeli territory.
“We launched several unmanned aerial vehicles to perform special tasks deep within Israel,” a Hamas spokesman said.
The incident marked the third such incursion in just under a year.
According to the Ynetnews site, Israel Defense Forces monitors identified the UAV, which was put under close surveillance until it crashed.
